I had an old photograph which I had painted from years ago, but it looked very different from this painting. I thought it was an intriguing photo taken at the Santa Barbara mountains while hiking. So I decided to paint from it again. I often see faces in rocks, hills or nature forms. I was after all much influenced by the surrealists, so I let my imagination reign free while painting, and the people and nature often merge.
